AMHERST, Mass. - No. 20 UMass opened its play in the Amherst Regional of the NCAA Championships with a 6-0 win over Princeton in the first of four games at UMass on Saturday. The pitching duo of Brandice Balschmiter and Bailey Sanders allowed just one hit in the win. Whitney Mollica blasted a two-run homer in the first inning. UMass scored three more runs in the fifth to seal the win. UMass faces No. 12 Stanford at 12 noon in the second game.
