STARKVILLE, Miss. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has announced the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Region teams which honored seven student-athletes from the Atlantic 10 Conference from two different regions. A total of 232 players from 107 different teams comprise the first and second regional teams.
Saint Joseph's senior catcher Brooke Darreff, the A-10 Player of the Year, was named to the Mid-Atlantic first-team while Massachusetts saw three first-team honorees in the Northeast Region. Junior Brandice Balschmiter, the A-10 Pitcher of the Year, sophomore outfielder Carly Normandin and freshman designated player Lindsay Maroney, the A-10 Rookie of the Year, all represented UMass on the Northeast Region first-team.
Chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, the four first-team honorees will now be eligible for selection to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America first, second or third teams.
Senior pitcher/third baseman Allison Twarowski of Fordham and freshman teammate Jocelyn Dearborn, an outfielder, were both named to the Mid-Atlantic second-team while junior thirdbaseman Whitney Mollica of Massachusetts earned second-team honors from the Northeast region.
The NFCA Division I All-American teams will be announced late on Wednesday afternoon, May 28.
