PHILADELPHIA- In the latest NCAA ratings percentage index the Temple field hockey team placed highest among A-10 teams at 13th overall. The index, which the NCAA announced October 15, determines the NCAA tournament seedings at the end of the season. Temple boasts a 14-5 overall record this season. The Owls have won five straight conference games giving them a 5-1 record in the Atlantic 10. This is the first time Temple has had 14 wins since the 1991 season.
With victories on Sunday, Temple and UMass move into a tie atop the Atlantic 10 at 5-1. Both teams have clinched a berth to the A-10 Tournament to be held in Philadelphia, November 2-3. Joining UMass and Temple in the Conference Tournament are Saint Joseph's (4-2) and Richmond (4-2).
Massachusetts's 8-7 overall record ranks 28th in the RPI index, while Saint Joseph's 7-7 record is 43rd. Richmond's 4-10 overall record is 48th.
