SAN ANTONIO, Texas - La Salle senior guard Darnell Harris took home the crown at the 20th annual State Farm Three-Point Championship on Thursday in San Antonio, site of this weekend's Final Four.
Harris defeated Tennessee senior Chris Lofton in the final round after the field had been narrowed from the original eight seniors, which included three-time All-Conference selection Brian Roberts of Dayton.
In the first round, where contestants face each other in a head-to-head format, Harris defeated Drew Neitzel of Michigan State in direct competition.
Other competitors were A.J. Graves (Butler), Jaycee Carroll (Utah State), Shan Foster (Vanderbilt) and Derrick Low (Washington State).
A second-team All-Conference selection, Harris ranked second in the Atlantic 10 and fourth nationally in three-point field goal percentage (.479) and is one of a league-record five A-10 standouts to drain at least 100 three-pointers this season. The Baltimore, Md., native finished sixth in the Conference in scoring (18.0 ppg.) and his 342 career field goals from beyond the arc are tops in A-10 history.
