25th Annual A-10 Women's Tennis Championship To Begin On Friday

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Massachusetts is the top seed for the 25th annual Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship, to be held Apr. 18-20 at the Club 4 Life in Monroeville, Pa.

The Minutewomen seek their second-ever A-10 crown and first since 2001 after finishing fourth a year ago. UMass is led by senior Masha Pozar, a two-time All-Conference selection, and five-time Rookie of the Week selection Candynce Boney, who leads the team with 17 victories in singles competition.

Third-seeded Richmond vies to become just the second program in Conference annals to win five straight titles, with Virginia Tech accomplishing the feat from 1996-00. The Spiders are anchored by junior Pamela Duran, a two-time All-Conference honoree. Junior Dina Senkina looks to lead second-seeded Temple to its fourth crown in program history and first since 2003, while No. 4 Duquesne seeks to build upon its program-best fifth-place showing a year ago. The Dukes are led by six-time A-10 Rookie of the Week selection Zena Williams, who boasts a record of 26-4 in singles action.

The seeds for the Championship are Massachusetts (first), Temple (second), Richmond (third), Duquesne (fourth), Xavier (fifth), Rhode Island (sixth), Charlotte (seventh), Saint Louis (eighth), Fordham (ninth), George Washington (tenth), Dayton (eleventh), St. Bonaventure (twelfth), Saint Joseph's (thirteenth), and La Salle (fourteenth).

Play starts on Friday, Apr. 18, at 8:00am, with the final match of the day beginning at 6:00pm. On Saturday, Apr. 19, play begins at 8:00am with the final match slated for 3:30pm. The fifth-place match of the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship will commence on Sunday, Apr. 20, at 8:00am. The third place and championship matches close out the event at 10:30am.
