COLUMBUS, Ohio - Richmond freshman Tim Quinn earned USA Track & Field (USATF) Junior All-America honors by placing eighth in the 5,000m at the USATF National Championships in Columbus, Ohio, this past weekend. The meet was run at the Jesse Owens Track & Field Complex on the campus of Ohio State.
Quinn finished in 15:05.81, getting into the top eight and earning All-America honors. Oregon's Matthew Centrowitz's ran a 14:44.67 to take the title.
"We're very happy for Tim," said head men's coach Steve Taylor. "He's made tremendous progress this year and this is a great way to end his season and first year of college. He made good decisions out there and moved when he needed to. He had a great last lap. It's exciting to see his training and effort come together throughout this season."
The freshman from Pittsford, N.Y., ran a season-best 14:47.43 in the 5,000m at the 2008 A-10 Championship, which was good for ninth place and ranked as the second-best freshmen time in the event.
