ATHLETICS + ACADEMICS = THE PERFECT EQUATION

At no time in the history of the Atlantic 10 Conference have the league's presidents and chancellors made as strong a commitment to ensuring that the academic and athletics equation works as now. From addressing the time constraints placed upon student-athletes to honoring their accomplishments, the A-10's presidents and chancellors have targeted the student-athlete experience as their primary focus.

What one newspaper once called "the hyphenated enigma," the Atlantic 10 has strived to make "student-athlete" not a term, but a real person, one whose experience in the classroom and in the playing venue befit higher education.

SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
At the conclusion of the academic year, the Atlantic 10 names a Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Candidates are judged on academic and athletic performance, as well as community involvement.

COMMISSIONER'S HONOR ROLL
The Atlantic 10 recognizes each of its student-athletes who maintain a 3.5 grade point average or better for the current semester by naming them to the Commissioner's Honor Roll. In the Fall of 2007, 1,247 student-athletes were honored. In the Spring of 2008, 1,104 received recognition.

ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS
The Atlantic 10 names an Academic All-Conference team in each of the sports its sponsors. In addition, one student-athlete from each sport is honored as Student-Athlete of the Year. In 2005-06, over 170 student-athletes were named to A-10 Academic All-Conference teams.

POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
The Atlantic 10 Conference annually honors four student-athletes who excel in academics and athletics and are involved in extra-curricular activities. The recipients are required to use the scholarship toward postgraduate education expenses.
